Dear Employees,

We’ve heard rumors that union representatives are saying our pensions are going away. This is not true. There have been no changes regarding our pension plan or our 403(b) savings plan, nor are any changes anticipated. In fact, during his recent visit to Arizona, Marvin O Quinn, Dignity Health s executive senior vice president of operations, told our employees that the proposed ministry alignment with CHI would not change our pensions.

The fact is the Dignity Health Arizona service area is one of few organizations in the nation that offers a comprehensive retirement plan based on three components: a pension plan, a 403(b) matching savings plan, and retiree health. Dignity Health pays the entire cost of the pension plan and retiree health plan, while also matching some of your savings plan contributions. These are benefits that we proudly offer benefits that our employees have enjoyed and appreciated for many years, benefits that facilitate quality of life for employees long after they retire from our organization.

Our retirement programs reflect our commitment to you. We would not want to see them at risk during a union contract negotiation. Pensions are part of the union contract negotiation process and contributions, eligibility and other terms of retirement plans are open to change under such negotiations.

While some people outside our organization may be trying to create fear and confusion regarding pensions and other employee benefits, we’ve always wanted our employees to be aware of the great benefits we offer. Should you ever have questions regarding these programs, please visit the Dignity Health Total Rewards portal. It has details about all our benefits, including pensions.

Open enrollment also provides great opportunities to learn about our benefit offerings. Open enrollment starts Monday, Oct. 22. Please take advantage of this time to ask questions and select the benefit options that work best for you and your family. If you have any questions, please let us, your supervisor, or your HR team know.

Thank you.
